Register now: Ho-onko Seminar with Rev. Koyama

One of the most important aspects of Hoonko is the viewing of the Goeiden (the illustrative scrolls depicting Shinran Shonin’s life), and the reciting of the Godensho (the biography of Shinran Shonin written by Kakunyo Shonin). While not often heard in the United States, these two corresponding features are central to our Jodo Shinshu tradition.

Join Rev. Tadao Koyama on Saturday, January 10, 2026 as he shares his experience of Hoonko, and explains the various panels of the Goeiden scroll as well as hear a sample from the Godensho as it is traditionally read at Hongwanji. Rev. Koyama will also give the Dharma Talk at Seattle Betsuin’s 2026 Hoonko service on Sunday, January 11th.

Registration info can be found below.
