125th Anniversary Benefactor

November 2026 will mark the beginning of a year-long observance commemorating the 125th Anniversary of Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple. Encouraged by our theme, Honoring the past, Inspiring the future — 125 Years of Nembutsu, we celebrate in gratitude the many generations who, with deep shinjin, and dedication, established this Temple as a place of listening, sharing, and fostering the Buddha Dharma.

We respectfully ask you to consider becoming a 125th Anniversary Benefactor. Contributions will support commemorative programs, services, educational offerings, cultural activities, and Sangha gatherings throughout the year.

The Hongwanji tradition has employed a variety of mon (family crests) throughout its history. Although the sagarifuji is the crest most often identified with Jodo Shinshu, Nishi Hongwanji’s use of crests reflects its historical connections to several prominent families and institutions. The sagarifuji is associated with the Kujo clan, the tsuru with the Hino family, the kiri with the Imperial Court and Emperor, and the kiku with the Imperial Household. Our benefactor levels acknowledge the strong connection Nishi Hongwanji has in Japanese history

We are grateful for your thoughtful consideration and continued support of Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple. Through your generosity, we honor those who sustained our Temple and help ensure the Nembutsu continues to be shared and lived for generations to come.

Gassho,

Tyler Moriguchi, Betsuin Chairperson

Rev. Katsuya Kusunoki, Rimban (head minister)
