About the artists
CHiLi GiRL (Shinobu Kawashima) is a singer-songwriter and four-time National Champion in classical Tsugaru Shamisen. Her performances are a captivating fusion of powerful shamisen melodies and innovative vocals, showcasing her versatility and creativity, and her shamisen solos are reminiscent of some of the great rock guitar solos of our day. She merges traditional Japanese sounds with contemporary R&B, soul, funk, and jazz and creates a vibrant and eclectic style that resonates with audiences worldwide.
Her videos on YouTube garner millions of views, and her videos playing as a guest artist with the renowned band Tokyo Groove Jyoshi highlighted her ability to blend genres and push musical boundaries.
