Programs and Services

The Seattle Buddhist Church is a hub of activity on Sunday and throughout the week. In addition to reviewing the programs and services listed here, be sure to visit Temple Organizations to learn about our many affiliated groups.

Betsuin Programs

  • Weekly Sunday English services and Japanese service/program
  • Dharma Exchange (discussion after the service)
  • Spring Retreat
  • Bon Odori Festival (also known as Obon, a Seafair event)
  • Japanese Hou-za (literally, “Dharma seat;” a gathering where people come to hear the Dharma)
  • English study classes and Japanese spring & fall seminars
  • Buddhist Book group (with the occasional movie)
  • Shakyo (copying the Buddhist scriptures, or sutras, using Japanese brush calligraphy)
  • Monthly services at Keiro and Wisteria Manor
  • Kids’ Summer Program (a one-week day camp)
  • Health clinic, crafts, and more
