<p><strong>Activities Include: </strong>Daily Buddhist Service, Japanese Language intro, Taiko Drumming, Japanese songs, Martial Arts, Japanese Cooking, Crafts, Games, Japanese American “Nikkei” culture, Visit to Keiro nursing home and Student Performances on Friday afternoon</p>

<li>Open to all children entering 1<sup>st</sup>-8<sup>th</sup> grade in Fall 2012</li>
<li>Registration begins February 26, 2012 for temple and BCA members</li>
<li>March 11 is Open Registration for all.</li>
<li>Parents/guardians are encouraged to volunteer.</li>
<li>Class size is limited to 15 students. A wait list will start after 15 students.</li>

<p>Rev. Dr. Kenji Akahoshi is leading a retreat this weekend titled &#8220;Practicing No Practice&#8221; at the beautiful Bastyr University Campus at 14500 Juanita Dr. NE, Kenmore, WA 98028.  The retreat starts at 7pm Friday, September 23, and runs through 1pm Sunday, September 25.  Registration is $200 and includes Saturday meals, Sunday breakfast and lunch and lodging (dorm room*).  Discover, clarify and share our experience of Shin Buddhism. Introspection, discussion and insightful activities will bring alive the relevancy and depth of Shin “practice”.  In a supportive and light-hearted<br />
environment, we move from a conceptual understanding to a personal experience.</p>
<p>Dr. Akahoshi holds a Master’s degree in transpersonal psychology and has a background in wilderness vision quests and personal growth disciplines. He is affiliated with the San Jose Betsuin Church.</p>

Kuwahara is a staff member of our mother temple, the Nishi Hongwanji in Kyoto Japan, who is currently assigned to the Center for Buddhist Education (CBE) at the Jodo Shinshu Center in Berkeley, CA.  There he serves as the coordinator for the CBE&#8217;s Jodo Shinshu Correspondence Course.</p>
