PREFACE
When the Department of Buddhist Education asked me if the BCA might publish the articles contained in this booklet, I was not sure whether I should accept or not.
The reason I was hesitant is because these-articles were written some years ago, and in some cases no longer exactly represent my thinking today.
On further consideration, however, I realized that, as the Sakyamuni Buddha said, the world is transient and impermanent, and everything is constantly changing. Thus, it would be strange if my thoughts remained the same. Although my thoughts may have changed somewhat since these articles were written, the underlying truths on which they are based have not.
That is why I have decided to brazenly expose my ignorance to the world through publication of this booklet. If these brief articles help spread the precious teaching of the Nembutsu, even the slightest, in the English-Speaking world, I can ask for nothing more.
Namu Amida Butsu. Namu Amida Butsu. Namu Amida Butsu...
